My garage: Rambler Six Earl

About my car

A good friend had bought this car about 12 years ago. I was with him the day he bought it. I was lucky to be the only other person he trusted to work on it or to drive it if we went for a cruise. The car had been repainted once, and the motor rebuilt once. Since then, it had accumulated around 35k miles on it. It then went into storage for a few years, only to be brought out by his dad to sit in the sun for a few hours per week. Unfortunately, he and I lost touch for about 5 years.

Fast forward to 2014, we had run into each other at a car outing. I had found out that he still had the car in storage and was looking to sell. It needed some work to get back to being roadworthy again, but was still complete and not modified. We struck a deal and about a week later, I had purchased it from him, knowing the cars' history (where it's been, who's hands have worked on it, etc..). We trailered it to another buddy's place, where I could store it/work on it when I can. My buddy that I bought the rambler from had been killed (a whole different story) about a year after I bought it from him. So, my plan now is to get "Earl" back on the road a.s.a.p.. I plan on repainting it the factory Nocturne Blue, and adding airride suspension. The drivetrain will stay original (195.6 AMC inline 6 with 3spd. and overdrive.) The interior will receive partial restoration when time and money allows, but my main focus is to complete what my buddy set out to do with it in his memory.

  • This car was made in 1959 and I've driven it since 2014
  • The Rambler Six was in production from 1956 to 1960

Sorry, I've been busy. I haven't made a post yet.
