Thanks to all who voted, plus updates on the S8
Thanks to everyone who voted for my simply amazing 201k mile, 17 year old S8. I still love getting behind the wheel and wouldn't hesitate to drive it across the country (see the following story).
Since I last posted, the S8 has gone to the Pacific Northwest for the Audi Club North America annual event. I met up with 10 other Audi fanatics in 5 cars (S3, A3, A4, allroad, R8) in St Louis, and we all started from the Gateway Arch and loosely followed the Oregon Trail to Tacoma. Our trip was called the Tourist Trophy of America 2018 (TTOA 18) and we formed some great friendships along the way. Took us 5 days through some beautiful country, and when we arrived we opened the Audi event. Spent 6 days enjoying the Tacoma area, and then 5 days driving back home. About 6600 miles round trip in 3 weeks. Our banquet was held at the LeMay Car Museum, and the attached photo was of my S8 on the apron in front of the museum with a few Seattle area members cars and some special cars brought by Audi. Every other car was spotless - but I left the 3000 miles of road grime on the S8 as a badge of honor.
Had to address some minor issues when back home - cooling system turned into a new radiator, steering whine turned out to be defective steering rack (which I had replaced 2 years earlier and was still in parts warranty), reduced fuel economy turned into new O2 sensors and combi valves.
Our next trip is to Daytona in January for the Rolex 24. I'm looking forward to the drive and will meet up with 6 of my fellow TTOA folks while there.
