Updating the Audio PT6 - Mounting the LCD

This portion of the upgrade, was a little more difficult. Trying to figure out how to mount the LCD. I was originally going to try and mount it to the console, and then have the bezel line up when put into place (similar to the stock radio). But this was just too difficult to do. I then decided it would be easier to mount the LCD directly to the bezel.

Because this LCD was not meant to be mounted in this car, some modification to the LCD would be necessary. The mounting tabs originally were located on the top and bottom of the LCD. This will not work, as they get in the way of the HVAC control and lower console. So I took a dremmel and very carefully cut off each tab from the PCB.

I then reattached 2 of the the tabs to the lower part of the board, using some epoxy. Next to help keep the LCD in place, I used some left over plastic, to make almost a sleeve for the LCD to slide into. I did this along the top, and one side. The left side has too many components, so hopefully this along with the screws will be enough to keep it secure.

In the second picture you can see that I used some plastic spacers and screws to help hold it in place.

Interesting for you
