New Radio Upgrade!
For the past few months I was having intermittent problems with the 6 CD Player in my car. I have Ford's Shaker 500 stereo system in the car.
The problem escalated to the point where I could not load, eject or play my CDs. So I did a lot of shopping around for a new, upgraded radio to replace my factory radio.
I knew that I wanted the AM/FM receiver, a CD player and also a Sirius Satellite ready radio. I researched a number of radios on the internet, at Best Buy, Pep Boys and a couple of Audio Shops before finding the radio I wanted at a price I could afford.
Interestingly, the audio clerk at Pep Boys was very honest and told me that while his shop had a large selection of radios, he didn't have an audio technician to install the radio. Than he told me to check out the Audio Shop down the block from his store.
So I went there and they should me a SONY AM/FM, CD changer, Sirius Satellite ready, a Blue Tooth ready and an outlet to use my IPOD with a USB Cable.
I bought the radio and they installed it professionally with no signs of any wires showing. They put the Sirius Radio Antenna in the corner of my dash where you have to look hard to find it. I called Sirius and signed up with a special 6 month promotion for $35!
In November when my wife's subscription is due to renew, mine will also and we'll get a special multi-car discount on our subscriptions.
The CDs never sounded this good with my old radio. I took a few photos of the installed radio, which also changes colors and has more options than I'll ever use, to show how well it fits. They also gave me back my old radio in case I would want to sell or trade in the car sometime in the future. One shop wanted $780 for this same radio and installation while I paid $380! It pays to shop around!
