Low profile Spectre Performance intakes are a no go for Silverback
I have just a little bit of interference between the leading edge of my current 14" round air filter (also Spectre Performance shown in the last pic) and my hood. I have a slight rub mark on the inside of the hood so I wanted to address this plus try to lower intake air temps a bit. Also, maybe do something cool looking if possible. So I started investigating the Spectre Performance Low Profile Dual Plenum solution with 4" piping to allow me to route my intake filters forward and down towards the cooler air coming in from the front of the vehicle. Unfortunately, even the low profile intake doesn't clear the L88 style hood I'm using. Also, I had to buy an extra 4" tube extension to push away from the valve cover since as it turns forward, it interferes with the valve cover breather. I tried the 22degree down 90 degree forward S pipe and it's hitting the hood. They have a 45 degree down, but I think that will hit the top of the valve covers. See the pics to get an idea what I'm trying. I don't have the actual filters on yet in these pics since I'm just playing with routing.
Given what I'm seeing, my only option is trying the 45degree down tube and if that doesn't work. It also get's boxed up to go back.
If any of you have tried this and made it work, please let me know. Also, if any of you have experience with a low profile air intake solution, let me know what you've used.
