Ethyl, my 1965 Nova SS straight axle nostalgia drag car
Ethyl, my 65 Nova SS , was originally built as a street car. After some time I decided it was time to get her on the track. I joined the East Coast Gassers, a great group of people who understand and enjoy nostalgia cars and racing.Ethyl is powered by a ZZ502 crate motor, done over for me by Heintz Brothers in Statesville NC. The end result was better than I expected, as she dyno'd at 722 HP. She runs very consistent low 10s on the quarter and so far has run two seasons without any issues. The 502 is backed up with a turbo 400 with a reverse valve body and a Ford 9" with 4:11 gears with a Detroit locker. 29.5 x10.5 x 15 M/T slicks on the rear, along with the home made 5' long ladder bars help get it moving.I always like straight axle "gasser" cars, and I am having more fun with Ethyl than any other car I've owned!
