quattro de Mayo 2017

QDM this year was headquartered at the Ridges Resort in Hiawassee, GA, with 100 Audis and about 158 fans in attendance. The drives were great, as always. We drove the Tail of the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway on Friday, which was made even more "interesting" than usual because the rainy weather, normally great for Audis, brought with it fog at the upper elevations of the Skyway. Restricted visibility on a "spirited" drive was challenging but the S8 did very well.

Saturday's drive was to be up the Dragon and then on Foothills Pkwy and into the Smokies, but high winds had downed lots of trees over the previous few days, and many of the roads we had planned to drive on were closed. So Saturday was up and down the Dragon in the rain with a few side trips. Driving the S8 on the Dragon in the rain was like wrestling a bear for 11 twisty (318 curves in 11 miles) miles, but it was fun and I was very pleased with the car's performance.

Looking forward to next year's get together
